Damien Blake Szatek

Damien Blake Szatek, passed away too soon after a hard fought and lengthy battle with illness September 15, 2026 at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Born December 5, 2023 to his loving parents Joseph Szatek and Bailey Bassie. Visitation will be held Saturday September 19, 2026 from 3 PM to 7 PM at Dundee Funeral home 485 Dundee Ave. E., Dundee, IL 60118.

Damien was a micro preemie that fought tooth and nail (and lung) to overcome every obstacle thrown his way and prove us wrong on so many occasions. He was the happiest little boy and overflowed with the most contagious smiles 99% of the time. He was definitely not shy about showing when he didn’t like something and his side eye was piercing. He was everybody’s favorite little guy and touched the lives of more people than we could’ve thought. He enjoyed bubbles, music, and his electric guitar dog toy. He loved Paw Patrol and in the short time he was able to spend at home, found he loved the sounds produced by his dog. Dozer would yell, Damien would laugh, his vent would alarm, and we’d all smile. Good luck getting his thumb out of his mouth, brushing his teeth, and getting him to keep a pulse ox on for more than 10 minutes. He was a strong, brave, courageous, and stubborn little guy. He leaves his parents, Joseph and Bailey, to walk the rest of this journey together. Maybe the next lifetime will be different, but until then Damien with continue to be so deeply loved and remembered in every little way.
