Diane E. Thelen

Diane E. Thelen (Bogdanowski) of Wauconda passed away on March 12, 2024 after a courageous battle against Alzheimer’s. Diane was born July 7, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Geniveive Reed (Keenan). She had 3 siblings, a loving sister Mary Eltges and the late James and Robert Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents, many uncles and aunts, her husbands and brothers. She married Walter J. Bogdanowski on February 12, 1958. They had 4 children:  Raymond (Cheryl) Bogdanowski, Laurie Villarreal, Lisa Zerga and Tony Bogdanowski (Missy). She had 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Frank) Gonzalez, Amber (Nirmal) Gangaloo, Erin Goldenstein (Zach), Robert (Deanna) Bogdanowski, Anthony Zerga, Carylanne (Seth) Nayonis and Jasmine Martinez (Jonathan) She had 15 great grandchildren. She was a loving Aunt and Cousin to many. After Walter’s death in 1982 she married Arthur K. Thelen in July 1985.They moved to Wauconda and enjoyed traveling during their retirement until his death in 2002.

Diane worked at Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois for many years. She enjoyed family gatherings and cooking big meals for special occasions. She had a love of theater and live events, often taking her children or grandchildren with her to these events. She was an avid Keno player with her neighbors in Carpentersville and Wauconda.

The Services will include a funeral mass on March 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Monica’s Catholic Church 90 N. Kennedy Carpentersville, IL 60110. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 - 8 pm at Carpentersville Moose Lodge 309 Lake Marian Rd Carpentersville, IL 60110. Private Burial will be at Dundee Township East Cemetery.
