Griselda Contreras Santana, 65, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 31, 2020, in her Carpentersville home surrounded by family.
Born September 13, 1954, in Villa Union, Mexico, she joins her husband, Jose, in Heaven.
Griselda, who moved to the Chicago area from Mexico in 1971, is one of eight children and proudly became a U.S. citizen in the late 1990s.
She was known as “Lady” at work because she wanted a nickname that sounded younger than “grandma” or “aunt.”
Griselda had a quick and sharp wit and used it to make people laugh. She enjoyed cooking for and celebrating holidays and special occasions with her family.
At any opportunity, she could be found singing and dancing, even doing so in her home.
She had the ability to stay positive and find happiness and joy in any occasion.
Griselda is survived by two sons, Marco Santana and Joe Santana, and two daughters, Selma Griffin (Dave) and Caridad Boots (Alex), along with four grandchildren.
